Very disappointed!!! I called and had someone came out to be told I didn't have fertilizer burn on my grass. Mid season fertilizing - June 14th....I had to ask what season, thank goodness Calgary had a major rain fall the next day because we're in a water restrictions. These pictures are after the latest major rain fall and still no improvement. My grass has NEVER looked so bad. An update : the company reached out to me and listened to my concerns. We came to a resolution that I was happy with.
Week control by this shop is OK. No complaints. However, after hired them, I started getting chinch bugs in my lawn. Yard Dawgs offered a treatment consisting of two site visits ($190 dollars each visit). Two treatments were done in July. The damaged area only grew larger in August.
I started using this company a year ago, and have to say, my lawn has never looked better. I am very pleased with their services, especially the unlimited weed control. I feel I am finally making inroads against the dreaded bellflower, which I have been battling against for 25 years. Excellent company, reasonable rates and prompt, friendly customer service.
We’ve had hit and miss service from Yard Dawgs, and in most cases, it seems to come down to which staff member you work with. We’ve had awesome experiences with full communication and education on what’s being done and what we should be doing; but we’ve also had cases where communication was lacking or where work was missed resulting in the cinch bug infestation worsening (pictured is the difference between the complete and missed treatments). Overall the work itself is usually decent and the pricing is reasonable, but there’s a lot of room for improvement in communication.
Update: Yard Dawgs reached out to me in October when the season was over to apologize and offer me a refund or free services for next season. I accepted a refund (for a service that was not effective) as I don’t hold much confidence in their company now. For that reason I have upgraded my review from 1 to 3. I appreciate them trying to rectify the situation but for me it was too little too late. I hope they are better able to manage their growth, streamline their policies, and provide better customer satisfaction in the future. We used Yard Dogs last year and were happy with them. They did a late season chinch bug treatment and a liquid aeration. They recommended we do a second application for chinch bug this year so we did. After many phone calls they finally came out on June 26 to spray for chinch bug, the skies were threatening while Steven was here and I asked him what happens if it rains? He said they come back out. It rained later that day. I called them the next day to ask how the rain would affect the treatment they said it wouldn’t and if it did they would come and reapply free of charge. Less than a month later you can see an obvious chinch bug infestation. I called them today to ask them to reapply the chinch bug treatment and they said I would have to purchase another application because the application that was rained on was only considered our first….maybe they think I can’t count? I’ve already paid almost $200.00 for an application this year that was not effective and instead of honouring their work, they want more money.
