Been here for over a year now. It’s not the worst gym out there, but for an anytime fitness it’s a dump. Feels like a gym you’d find a in a small town college. Machines are in rough shape, cushions repaired with tape. Machines creek and squeak since I got started here and continue to get worse without care to fix, As others have reviewed. In the winter, the inside was around 15 degrees Celsius and the furnace wouldn’t work. Most mornings there are no spray bottles to clean equipment. And the staff? What staff. You can call here anytime of the day and you’ll rarely get an answer. Then you’ll come in and find the staff in the office talking on their personal phone. And the enhancement fee? Where does that go? New air fresheners in the bathroom? Nothing has changed here since I signed up. When I signed up I didn’t even get a gym tour. I’m trapped in a contract so I’ll be taking my membership to a different gym location.
We travel alot around western canada and the US always utilizing AF for our workouts. The Brentwood Calgary location is by far the absolute worst we have ever encountered. The gym is dirty, equipment is awful, full of rips with tape over top. I was compelled to write a review as all the latest reviews are clearly fake and bought. I am surprised the franchise of AF has allowed this gym to continue with the state of it.
I’ve been going here for about a year so I feel like I can write an honest review. In comparison to other gyms (AF included) this one is quite poor. They lack basic things such as partial weights for stacks, proper AC (temperatures go up to 28 degrees C in summer), as well as other equipment like chains and proper floors for heavy lifting. I’d recommend going to another gym.
Great location with easy access from the University. Parking is tight just outside the gym but the Brentwood mall has plenty of open space. I'd love to swap out a few pieces of the equipment which are not my fav. but everything is pretty new and in great shape. The staff keep the place very tidy and the existing members are dedicated and respectful.
It's ok. For the amount of AF gyms I've been to, it's certainly lacking in accessory equipment for conditioning work and kettlebells. I also am not sure the AC works as it feels incredibly hot in the early morning. It's handy for being nearby, but I feel like the franchiser (?) For this location could put a little extra care and life into the location.
